Merseyside Police – “CarSafe” Awareness Flyer

Merseyside Police launched the “CarSafe” campaign as part of their wider community safety efforts, adapted from the “StreetSafe” initiative. The campaign aimed to raise public awareness around vehicle crime prevention, specifically encouraging people not to leave valuables visible in their cars.

They commissioned a public-facing flyer that would be distributed in car parks, community centres, and police events to catch attention quickly and deliver a clear message: Don’t make your car a target.

The Challenge

This flyer had to:

  • Stay within the official Merseyside Police brand guidelines, including approved fonts, logos, and colour use

  • Be clear, informative, and highly visible in public spaces

  • Deliver a single powerful takeaway: Don’t leave anything on show in your car

The content was provided, but the challenge was turning it into something eye-catching and actionable—not just another generic safety leaflet.

The Solution

While adhering strictly to brand rules (e.g., official fonts and logos), I used a strong visual hierarchy, bold type placement and recognisable iconography to reinforce the message. The design emphasized quick comprehension—essential for a flyer meant to be scanned in seconds.

The result was a clean, trustworthy, and highly legible flyer that guided the viewer’s eye to the main warning, while also reinforcing public trust in the police brand.

The Outcome

  • The flyer was printed and distributed across Merseyside as part of the wider vehicle crime prevention push

  • It received positive feedback from community teams for being simple, clear, and effective

  • It fulfilled all police communication standards while using thoughtful design to support a safer community
